This
is a chord/scale diagram of the fifth position "C major"
scale. Picture the top of your guitar at the top of this diagram and
you should be able to see the notes in the key of C.
At Chodosh Guitar we recommend that
you learn this scale to enhance your understanding of the instrument only after
you have thoroughly committed the open position and II pos "C" scales to
memory and can play them properly using eighth notes and eighth note
triplets at 100 BPM.
I suggest "calling" out the name of each note as you play it to
help you remember where you are until you have the scale memorized.

SETTING
UP YOUR HAND:
Line up four fingers to the fifth through
eighth frets. When you need to, reach for the ninth fret with
your fourth finger but do not let any of your other fingers leave their
assigned frets! I marked this with a "4s" for 4th finger
stretch.

DIRECTIONS: Start with the note "C"
at the 8th fret on the 6th string. Play "up" to the
highest note on the first string and then back "down" to the
lowest note on the 6th string before returning to the note "C"
where you started.
