This
is a chord/scale diagram of the seventh position "C major"
scale. Picture the head stock of your guitar at the top of this diagram and
you should be able to see the notes in the key of C.
At Chodosh Guitar we recommend that
you learn this scale to enhance your understanding of the instrument only after
you have thoroughly committed the open position, II pos and V pos "C" scales to
memory and can play them properly using eighth notes, eighth note
triplets and sixteenth notes at 100 BPM.
I suggest "calling" out the name of each note as you play it to
help you remember where you are until you have the scale memorized.

SETTING
UP YOUR HAND:
Line up four fingers to the seventh
through tenth frets. As long as your second finger stays behind the
eighth fret and your third finger stays behind the ninth fret you will be
in the VII (seventh) position.

DIRECTIONS: Start with the note "C"
at the 8th fret on the 6th string. Play "up" to the
highest note on the first string and then back "down" to the
lowest note on the 6th string before returning to the note "C"
where you started.
